We were delighted to attend the virtual National Heritage Awards hosted by the Heritage Council and presented by RTÉ broadcaster, Anne Cassin. The ceremony recognised the efforts of individuals and groups across the country as they worked to preserve, protect, enhance and showcase their local heritage. Dr Christy Cunniffe a friend of the Workhouse was awarded the 2020 Heritage Hero award for his outstanding work over 30 years promoting archaeology, heritage and culture in Galway and further afield.
